Botanic INCI: Boswellia Carterii Oil 

Synonym: Olibanum Oil, Boswellia carteri, Boswellia undulato crenata 

Description: Frankincense, also called olibanum, is an aromatic resin, obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia in the family Burseraceae which originates from the Middle East, with abundant pinnacle leaves and has white or pale pink flowers. Frankincense is tapped from the scraggly but hardy trees by slashing the bark, which is called striping, and allowing the exuded resin to bleed out and harden. These hardened resins are called tears. The word is from the French word 'Franc' meaning 'luxuriant' or 'real incense.’ 

Extraction:Boswellia Carterii Oil is the volatile oil obtained from steam distillation of Boswellia carterii, Burseraceae. 

Applications:

Properties: Antiseptic, astringent, carminative, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, sedative, tonic, uterine, vulnerary & expectorant.
