Candelilla wax is a highly pure, 100% plant-based wax derived from the wild candelilla plant (Euphorbia cerifera) from Mexico. This hard and brittle wax naturally has a yellow to brown color and is widely used in cosmetics for its structuring, protective, and emollient properties. Due to its high content of hydrocarbons and resinous components, the wax also has good adhesive properties.

For production, parts of the candelilla plant are harvested, dried, and processed, after which the extracted wax is heated and filtered to remove impurities. The resulting cosmetic wax provides firmness and stability to products such as lip balms, lipsticks, creams, lotions, and mascara. Candelilla wax is also a popular plant-based and vegan alternative to beeswax.
