Making your own candles with soy wax, rapeseed wax or another plant-based candle wax? SQ ECO wicks from SoapQueen are cotton and paper candle wicks coated with natural wax and supplied with a metal wick tab. The different sizes offer options for both container candles in glasses and jars and freestanding candles. Choose the size that suits your candle wax and candle diameter.

Candle Wicks for Plant-Based Wax

SQ ECO wicks are specially developed for soy wax and other plant-based waxes, including rapeseed wax. Their flat, braided structure combines long-fibre cotton with paper to create a sturdy wick. As the wicks are already waxed and fitted with a metal wick tab, they are ready to use in your candle-making projects. The natural wax coating consists of a blend of various natural waxes and oils, with added beeswax.

Whether you are making a small batch of scented candles or producing candles regularly, choosing a suitable wick is an important part of your formulation.

Which Candle Wick Size Do You Need?

Start with the diameter of your candle, candle container or mould. Each SQ ECO wick has a recommended diameter range to help you make an initial selection.

The right wick size also depends on the wax, fragrance oil and colourant used. Use the stated diameters as a guideline and always carry out a burn test with your own formulation. This helps you determine which wick works best for your candle before making a larger batch.
