Botanic INCI: Citrus Aurantium Amara Leaf/ Twig Oil 

Synonym: C. Brigaradia, petitgrain bigarade (oil), petitgrain Paraguay (oil), Bitter Orange Oil. 

Description: Petitgrain is derived from an evergreen tree belonging to the Rutaceae family. Growing up to 10 metres high, it has fragrant white flowers and dark, glossy leaves.  

Extraction: Citrus Aurantium Amara Leaf/Twig Oil is the volatile oil obtained from the leaves and twigs of the Bitter Orange, Citrus aurantium L. var. amara L., Rutaceae. 

Applications: 

  • Aromatherapy applications
  • Fragrance component in perfumes and cosmetic products
  • Flavouring ingredient in food and drink

Properties: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, deodorant, digestive, nervine, stimulant (digestive, nervous), stomachic and tonic. 

Helps with:  Acne, excessive perspiration, greasy skin and hair, toning, dyspepsia, flatulence, convalescence, insomnia, nervous exhaustion and stress related conditions.
