Easily create an eye-catching shower gel, liquid hand soap or exfoliating scrub with this clear liquid suspending soap from Stephenson. This ready-to-use soap base has a thick, transparent gel texture and has been specially developed to keep small additives evenly distributed throughout the soap.
While glitter, exfoliating particles, seeds and pigments often sink to the bottom or float to the surface in ordinary liquid soap, they remain beautifully suspended in this soap base. This allows you to create attractive finished products in which the added particles remain visible from top to bottom.
The soap is supplied clear, colourless and unscented. You can personalise the base with a suitable cosmetic colourant, fragrance oil, essential oil, mica, cosmetic glitter or exfoliating particles.

What is suspending soap?
Suspending soap is a thick liquid soap base with a particularly high suspending or floating capacity. Thanks to this property, small solid additives remain distributed throughout the gel instead of gradually sinking to the bottom.
The transparent base is particularly suitable for products in which the visual effect is important. Coloured jojoba beads, glitter, mica and other decorative additives remain clearly visible through the transparent gel.
Air bubbles created during stirring or shaking can also remain suspended in the thick soap for a longer period. This can be used to create a playful visual effect. If you prefer as few air bubbles as possible, mix the soap slowly and carefully.
Examples of applications:
Clear shower gel
Use the suspending soap as supplied or add a suitable cosmetic fragrance oil and a small amount of water-soluble colourant. This allows you to easily create a fresh, transparent shower gel in virtually any desired colour and fragrance.
Shower gel with air bubbles
By stirring the soap a little more vigorously or gently shaking it, air bubbles are created that remain suspended in the thick gel. In a transparent bottle, this creates a playful and fresh appearance.
Glitter shower gel
Add a small amount of cosmetic glitter to create a sparkling shower gel. Silver, gold, pearlescent or sky-blue glitter remains beautifully distributed throughout the soap. Only use glitter that is suitable for cosmetic applications and rinse-off products.
Exfoliating scrub gel
Create a liquid scrub by adding suitable exfoliating particles to the suspending soap. Examples include:
- Coloured jojoba beads
- Fine natural exfoliating particles
- Ground walnut shell
- Poppy seeds or other small cosmetically suitable seeds
- Suitable botanical exfoliating particles
The particles remain evenly distributed, ensuring that each dose contains approximately the same amount of exfoliating particles.
Pearlescent shower gel
SQ Micas give the clear soap a luxurious pearlescent or shimmering effect. Depending on the mica used, you can create a subtle sheen or a striking metallic effect.
Liquid hand soap with a decorative effect
Fill a transparent pump bottle with coloured suspending soap and add glitter, mica or small decorative particles. Ideal for bathrooms, guest toilets, seasonal products and gifts.

How to use the suspending soap
- Weigh the desired amount of liquid soap base into a clean mixing bowl.
- If desired, add a small amount of water-soluble cosmetic colourant.
- Add a skin-safe fragrance oil or essential oil. Use a maximum of 1% fragrance and always check the applicable IFRA guidelines for the selected fragrance.
- Mix gently until the colour and fragrance are evenly distributed throughout the soap.
- Then add glitter, mica, jojoba beads or other suitable suspended particles.
- Mix slowly and carefully to limit the formation of unwanted large air bubbles.
- Fill the finished soap into a clean pump bottle or squeeze bottle.
Tips for beautiful effects
Pre-mix glitter and mica: first mix the glitter or mica with the fragrance oil in a separate mixing container. Then gradually add this mixture to the soap. This makes it easier to distribute the particles evenly.
Start with a small amount of colourant: the clear base takes colour easily. Add the colourant drop by drop until the desired shade is achieved.
Work with small test quantities: fragrance oils, essential oils, pigments and other additives may affect the clarity, colour, thickness or stability of the soap. Therefore, always prepare a small test batch first.
Mix gently: slow stirring helps prevent large air bubbles. If you want to use air bubbles as a decorative effect, you can mix the soap more vigorously.
Use transparent packaging: a clear pump bottle or squeeze bottle displays the suspended glitter, exfoliating particles and colour effects to their best advantage.
Important information when adding ingredients
Only use colourants, fragrances, glitter, pigments and exfoliating particles that are suitable for cosmetics and rinse-off skincare products. For each fragrance oil or essential oil, check the recommended dosage and applicable IFRA guidelines.
Additives may affect the viscosity, clarity, colour and stability of the finished product. Therefore, always carry out compatibility and stability testing in advance, especially if you intend to sell the finished product professionally.
